Squad Structure

Tiny Torpedoes

Tiny Torpedoes are the first squad after ‘Learn to Swim’. The Torpedoes can complete 25 metres of freestyle and backstroke with basic butterfly and breaststroke. They are introduced to stroke drills and basic competition skills; stroke development is the focus along with learning to enjoy racing.

 3 sessions per week recommended, no minimum attendance. General age 6 to 9 years.

Gear Requirements

Kick board, fins, St Edmund’s Swimming Cap, goggles, water bottle

Little Legends

Competent new or young swimmers. The Skills Squad is primarily technique and skill focused along with the development of aerobic conditioning.  Encouragement to compete at District levels meets.

Recommend 4 sessions per week with no minimum attendance required. General age 9 to 12 years

Gear Requirements:

Long fins, kick board, pull buoy, St Edmund’s Swimming Cap, water bottle

Talent Squad

Swimmers with good competence in all strokes. Talent Squad swimmers are focusing on further development of their strokes and physical fitness. Racing skills are taught, and encouragement is given to compete at B.S.A meets and achieving qualifying times.

7 sessions offered weekly with 4 sessions/week minimum average attendance, dependant on age and development.

Gear Requirements

Kick board, pull buoy, short fins, St Edmund’s Swimming Cap, goggles, water bottle, front snorkel, paddles and band.

Target Squad

Target swimmers are developing their racing skills. Training is more race specific with preparation for highly competitive performances at B.S.A and S.Q meets. Target squad swimmers would be training for State qualifying times. 10 sessions offered weekly with a minimum average attendance of 7 sessions/week.

Kick board, pull buoy, short fins, St Edmund’s Swimming Cap, goggles, water bottle, front snorkel, paddles and band.
